The Bridger Folk Music Society in Logan is celebrating its 30th anniversary during the 2009-10 season. There will be many wonderful folk artists and musicians on the line-up.
On Sunday, October 25, at 7 p.m., the society will host two folklorists who are also folk musicians in a house concert featuring their tunes and stories. Jabbour plays old time Appalachian fiddle and Cannon sings and accompanies himself on the guitar, mandolin and ukulele. The public will be favored by the rare combination while Jabbour and Cannon are in the region attending the American Folklore Society’s annual meeting in Boise . The event will take place at Cache Valley Unitarian Universalist church building at 596 East 900 North in Logan .
At 2 p.m. before the concert, Jabbour will teach Appalachian style fiddle in a workshop, open to intermediate and advanced fiddlers only. Cannon will share some of his work and teach western folk songs with the instrumental accompaniment. Anyone may attend Cannon’s workshop. Bring your guitar or mandolin.
The cost for the concert is $12 per ticket, or $35 for concert and workshop combined. For tickets and to register for one of the workshops, call or write Lisa at 435-757-5420; queenrags@gmail.com
