The single largest piece of equipment to be installed at the Procter and Gamble plant in Corinne arrived by truck last week after leaving the Port of Houston on October 3. The "Yankee Dryer" is about 20 feet tall, 25 feet wide. It made the long journey on a 220' long truck, escorted by an entourage of support vehicles travelling at about 10 miles per hour. Rocky Mountain Power personnel lifted power lines where the truck was too tall to pass under, and the Utah Highway Patrol stopped traffic as needed. The Procter and Gamble "Greenfield Box Elder" site is a total of one million square feet, and the paper machine is about the size of a football field. According to Matthew Donthnier, Human Resources and public relations leader, a number of local people have been hired over the past year and a new group is currently in training at the site. The plant will be in production in 2010, starting with the new Regional Distribution Center. "We continue to be very excited to be in Box Elder County and consistently reflect on the right decision to come to Utah," he said.
