An unexpected chemical reaction led to an explosion that left a monstrous crater in the ground near the sewer pond in Perry last week. Mayor Jerry Nelson is standing in the hole that is 20 feet deep and 50 feet wide. According to the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, the most dangerous chemicals found in several area storage bays have been destroyed and the remaining will be transported in the upcoming weeks.
