BC to install fiber

optics on west Forest
Brigham City Council passed a resolution last week to be reimbursed for a portion of the cost of installing the UTOPIA network to city facilities on Forest Street from Pioneer Park to Main Street. The installation will allow fiber optic capability at city hall, the Chamber of Commerce Building, Brigham City Library, the community center and the city shops.

The cost estimate for stringing the fiber is $26,800 and the estimated reimbursement amount would be $11,650. Economic Development Director Paul Larsen explained that when the bond is issued for UTOPIA the resolution passed last week will allow the city to be reimbursed.

The reimbursement is only for shared costs that will benefit the larger network and is the same reimbursement arrangement available for private businesses. The resolution passed last week is required by state law in order for the city to receive the reimbursement.
