The Brigham City Metro SWAT team responded to a standoff on October 1 when Cameron Richard Busby, 37, barricaded himself in his home. Thanks to the tactical and negotiation teams there was a peaceful resolution after about six hours, according to Brigham City Police spokesperson Dennis Vincent.

Officers were on the phone with him most of the morning. Tactical held the perimeter around the home on the 900 South block of 500 East. When Busby came out of the home he removed ‘stop sticks’ (used to stop vehicles by flattening the tires) from behind his pickup truck. Vincent said he was combative so he was tazed.

Busby was upset about his pending divorce. A protective order hearing was held the day before the incident and the judge ruled to keep the protective order against Busby in place.

In a separate incident the night before, Brigham City Police responded to a 911 call from a distraught female who had a fight with her fiance. When they arrived at a home on west Forest Street they were searching for a male individual when they heard a gunshot in a neighbor’s backyard.

The individual was taken by air ambulance to MacKay-Dee Hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is now at the University of Utah Medical Center
