A female jogger was attacked by two men on November 6 near the pump house at Pioneer Park Pond. The woman had jogged along the west side of the pond at about 8:45 p.m. She was headed back north toward the pump house when she heard voices and thought they were coming from behind the hedge to the west of the walking path.

The victim told Brigham City Police that as she passed the building someone came from behind it and grabbed her from behind by the sweatshirt she was wearing. She believed it was a man who was at least six feet fall and was very strong. He pulled her up against the west side of the building and used the strings on her sweatshirt hood to try to choke her.

Although it was dark she saw another man standing in front of her but everything happened too quickly for her to notice facial features or clothing. But she did notice his shoes were very white, almost glowing in the dark. The man spoke in Spanish and then said he recognized her as an acquaintenance's mom. The man holding her dragged her toward the pond and threw her in. She was unable to see the direction they fled.

The woman hit her head on something when she was thrown into the pond. Her clothing was soaked in water and mud. Her cell phone was missing and she thought the men took it from her so she couldn't call for help. She believes they threw it in the pond.

She climbed out of the pond and ran to a house across the street where she knew the residents. They called the police

Officers and deputies scoured the area. An officer saw a partial shoe print in the dirt near the pump house but no other evidence was found in that area. However, in the parking lot north of the pump house a black ball cap and a can of chewing tobacco were found.

The victim told police her head hurt and she was cold. She refused an ambulance. She told police she believed the men were in their late teens or early twenties because she has a son about that age. He is serving in the military.

The police department said it is always a good idea to be with someone when out walking or jogging.
