Brigham City property sold

Several members of Davis and Bott CPA firm have made an offer of $140,000 to Brigham City to buy the old fire station property at 42 West Forest Street. The city council voted last week to accept the offer.

Partner Roger Low told the council the buyers are in the middle of financing and working with architects for the office building they are planning. The firm is growing and has been working on an expansion plan for three years.

Partner Bruce Vellinga said, “We’ll be in the new place before tax season next year.”

Brigham City Corporation is working out an agreement with Utah State University Brigham City Campus to move the recycling bins to a parking area southeast of the old K-Mart building in the next few weeks.

Iowa String to be closed

Starting today, Iowa String Road will be closed during the day from 80000 North to 10000 North.

Rupp Trucking and Excavation will be putting in a waterway for West Corinne Water Company. County Commissioner Jay Hardy said the detour will add two miles to the route which would take less time than to keep the road open and have drivers wait for a flagger.

The road will be cleaned up and reopened every evening before dark. The closure will last for about a month.

Garden grand opening set

Utah State University’s Brigham City campus will hold a grand opening celebration on Thursday, October 22, for its recently completed Little Brigham Aggies Natural Discovery Play Garden.

The project, which has been underway for more than two years, will primarily serve children at the school’s Early Care and Education Center with a space that fosters “exploration, investigation and discovery,” according to a press release about the event.

According to the release, studies conclude that such facilities help a child’s overall mental wellness, including decreasing behavior problems and strengthening brain development.

The public is invited to the celebration at the Milton P. Miller Building, 195 West 1100 South, from 3-6 p.m. at the Utah State University Brigham City Regional Campus. Tours and children's activities will be available at the event.
