Meet BC candidates tonight

Don’t miss the final opportunity to meet candidates before the election. Three organizations will co-sponsor a Meet the Candidates event for Brigham City voters on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 p.m. at the Brigham City Community Center.

Everyone is invited to attend to hear Brigham City candidates present their platforms and participate in a question-and-answer period, followed by a time to visit one-on-one with voters over light refreshments.

Co-sponsoring the meeting are the American Association of University Women, Civic Improvement Club and Ladies Community Club.

Meet Perry candidates tonight

The Peak will host Perry Candidates Night tonight, October 28, from 5:30-7 p.m. Candidates have been invited to attend. There are no prepared questions but residents will get the chance to meet candidates and ask questions, one-on-one.

Voter information listed

Early voting is underway in various Box Elder County communities. Photo ID is required for early voting and also to vote on election day, Tuesday, November 3. Listed below are early voting information and dates for communites’ meet the candidates meeting.

Brigham City Early voting will be held October 26-30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Brigham City offices, 20 North Main, photo ID required. Voting on election day will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 195 West 1100 South, on the Utah State University Brigham City campus.

Perry

Early voting is underway until October 30 at Perry City offices, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1-5 p.m. on Friday.

Voting on election day will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the elementary school, 2625 South 1050 West, Room 232. Enter the southwest door.

Willard

Early voting will be held through Friday, October 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Willard City office, 80 West 50 South.

Voting on election day will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Willard City office.

Corinne

Early voting will held until October 30 during regular business hours at city hall, 2420 North 400- West. Photo ID required.

Mantua

Mantua will hold early elections. Ballots may be cast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. October 28-30.

No Boofest

Trick-or-treaters are reminded there will be no Boofest. The event was discontinued last year and the Chamber of Commerce supports the Boys and Girls Club’s Pumpkin Festival, which was held last Saturday,

Fall cleanup underway

Brigham City’s fall cleanup is now underway and will continue until Friday, November 13. In addition to regular garbage pickup, residents can put their garbage cans on the curb the day after regular collection for a second pickup.

Garbage will be collected on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11.

Award nominees sought

Brigham City is seeking applicants for the Jim Davis Extraordinary Service Award to be given to someone who has gone above and beyond what is expected in serving the public. The award recognizes a Brigham City employee or citizen each October who has performed extraordinary service.

Previous recipients are Mary Kate Christensen, Beth Gurrister, Bruce Leonard, Kris Powers, Paul Larsen, Sharon Brailsford and Fred Baugh.

The city requests nominations for the award. Please write a narrative that includes specific examples of how the nominee has gone above and beyond what is expected in serving the public. Please submit nominations by Friday, October 30, 5 p.m. to Brigham City Corporation, Attn: Mayor’s Office, 20 North Main Street, Brigham City, Utah 84302 or online to sbrailsford@brighamcity.utah.gov.
